Gareth has over 20 years structural engineering experience working on a broad range of projects throughout New Zealand. He has a proven track record of delivering projects with high levels of structural-architectural and heritage sensitive integration.
He has a demonstrated ability to produce solutions for an extensive variety of structures, and has particular experience with significant seismic assessment and retrofit of existing structures.
Nelson School of Music Seismic Upgrade Engineer responsible for the detailed investigation, seismic strengthening design and construction monitoring for the Category 1 heritage listed Nelson School of Music URM auditorium building. A high level of consideration was required in designing strengthening solutions sensitive to the existing structure.
Regional Bowls Centre Engineer responsible for design and construction monitoring of the new Upper Hutt regional bowls club room building (featuring long span LVL frames) and the 2300m2 indoor green building. High levels of analysis and design co-ordination were required to successfully implement the fabric roof structure.
Deloitte building, Wellington Engineer involved with the analysis of the innovative base isolated diagrid structure, specific responsibility for the diaphragm design and floor vibration analysis for this new fourteen-story, 20,000m2, base isolated commercial building.
St Johns Church Seismic Upgrade, Wellington Engineer responsible for the seismic strengthening design and construction monitoring for the Category 1 heritage listed St Johns in the city timber church.
